Teeth Whitening

Stained teeth may cause you to put your hand over your mouth when you smile, or you might avoid smiling altogether, giving off the wrong impression. At Beale and Cullen Dental, we believe your smile is a powerful part of your expression and individuality, and we will help you have a smile you feel proud to show the world.

Coffee, tobacco use, tea and wine add stains to teeth that collect over time and leave colour deposits behind. Teeth also darken as a natural part of ageing, but this doesn’t mean that you need to settle for a dark or yellow smile.

Professional teeth whitening is an affordable and easy way to gain a more youthful appearance and the confidence that comes with brilliant white teeth.

Brighten Your Smile in One Easy Appointment

Tooth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures.

We use safe, gentle and proven products to whiten your smile in-surgery, or you may prefer our home-whitening option. Both options are safe and provide more uniform results than over-the-counter shop or salon products, which often contain abrasives and provide less-than-ideal results.

Many of our patients opt to combine both in-house and take-home options for long-lasting white results.

In-Surgery Professional Teeth Whitening

Once we have a look to make sure you are healthy enough for teeth whitening, we will ask you to relax in our chair while we place a protective barrier over your gums and apply professional strength whitening gel to the surfaces of your teeth. In most cases, patients choose to whiten the front eight teeth, on both the upper and lower arch, that are visible when you smile.

We will give the whitening agent time to penetrate deep within the microscopic pores of the teeth and bleach away years of stains. After twenty minutes, we will remove the gel and replace it. We can repeat this process several times for maximum results.

You will leave our surgery with a significantly brighter smile in a single visit.

Take-Home Custom Teeth Whitening

We begin by taking impressions to create moulds of teeth for the fabrication of custom whitening trays. Your trays will fit your teeth snugly and will hold a small amount of whitening gel in each tooth area.

You can wear your teeth whitening trays for about an hour each day to achieve your whitest results. Teeth will not become overly white since you are only bleaching stains away.

Most patients can whiten their teeth comfortably. The most common side effect is sensitivity, which is a temporary condition. Studies show that whitening does not damage teeth enamel, but if sensitivity keeps you from whitening your teeth, we are happy to discuss ways to manage it, such as:

  • Take a day off between treatments
  • Be sure to only use the recommended amount of gel
  • Apply fluoride or desensitisers
  • Use toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth
