Emergencies and Extractions

Toothache and dental emergencies seem to occur at the most inconvenient times and can disrupt work, sleep and time with your family. At Beale & Cullen Dental, we are here when you need us most, so you can enjoy comfort and health again quickly – usually on the same day.

What Is a True Dental Emergency?

Sometimes, especially at the onset of discomfort, you might wonder if an emergency dental visit is really necessary. Anytime you experience pain or inflammation, it is your body’s way of letting you know that something is wrong.

When in doubt, please contact our Christchurch dental practice and one of our experienced and friendly team members will help you decide if a trip to the surgery is in order.

Common Dental Emergencies

Everyone is different, so listening to your body’s signals is important. Here are some of the dental emergencies we treat most often:

  • Toothache
  • Inflammation
  • Broken tooth
  • Knocked-out tooth
  • Trauma and accidents
  • Lost or broken fillings, crowns or bridges
  • Sudden sensitivity
  • Broken or lost dentures and partial dentures

Emergency Dental Visits

If an emergency dental visit is required, we will focus on eliminating pain and stabilising the condition. Our team will immediately spring into action to help you get the answers (and relief) you need.

  • Digital dental x-ray of the area
  • Dental exam by Dr Beale or Dr Cullen
  • Diagnosis of the condition
  • Consultation with treatment options

Once we determine the cause of the condition, our dentists will explain the treatment options available and respect the choice you make for your oral health and smile. If you are new to our practice, we will always invite you back for a full examination to help you avoid dental emergencies in the future.

Dental Extractions

Unless we remove problematic wisdom teeth, extraction is typically a recommendation of last resort because protecting your natural teeth by restoring them with a root canal, crown or filling is typically less complex and costly than replacing a missing tooth.

Despite our best intentions, sometimes extraction becomes necessary to protect your oral health. When we need to remove a symptomatic tooth, we do so comfortably to ensure minimal discomfort and guide you through the healing process.

At Beale & Cullen Dental, we offer a number of tooth replacement options to restore the appearance and function of your teeth.

  • Dental implants
  • Dental bridge
  • Dentures
  • Partial dentures
  • Implant-supported bridges
  • Implant-retained dentures

A missing tooth does not mean the end to a beautiful smile or excellent oral health. Our team is solution-focused and will work closely with you to protect the future of your smile.
